The Delhi High Court granted interim relief to “Times Now” news channel while restraining 'Republic TV' channel from using the tagline ‘NEWS HOUR’ or any other mark that may be deceptively similar to it for its prime time debate show.

The High Court, however, refused to grant any interim relief with respect to use of the tag line "nation wants to know" stating that a detailed examination of the issue is required.
The Times Group had moved the Court seeking a permanent injunction against Goswami's ARG Media Outlier from using the marks 'News Hour' and 'Nation Wants to Know' or any other derivatives or combinations of the same.

The Times Group had been using the said expression since 2006 when its programme titled "News Hour" was launched.

Goswami had claimed that the tagline in question was used by him when he was employed at the Plaintiff-company, as a "common speech" for which there is no intellectual property and argued that the expression was "spontaneous and creative" and pleaded that none of the documents adduced by the Plaintiff company indicated a connection of the mark to any of its goods or services.
